About VOID

Founded in 2013 by Arnaud Eeckhout (Belgium 1987) and Mauro Vitturini (Italy 1985), VOID is a visual sound art collective based in Brussels. Like the sound wave, their favorite medium, VOID works take place in a given time and space, in accordance with the resonance of the places they inhabit. VOID's work questions the experience we have with reality through our perception, and the consequences this has on the way we build our knowledge of things. In order to disassemble the relation that link mankind with its devices, VOID attempt to create short-circuits between personal empi r ical experiences and the ones culturally imposed. Their visual and sound installations combine the interconnected areas of perception, sound, language and representation.

Archaeoacoustics, 2015, materiali vari Il suono è spostamento d'aria, movimento di materia, una vibrazione che nel propagarsi si inscrive, tramite un fenomeno di micro erosione, in tutti i materiali che attraversa, continuamente. Partendo da quest'idea, alcune superfici del palazzo sono state riprodotte sotto forma di vinile, nel tentativo di ascoltare il suono inciso nell'architettura prima di dissiparsi. Il risultato è una contrazione acustica di tutta la memoria sonora del luogo inscritta nei materiali, costituendo così una sorta di archeologia sonora dello spazio. Sound never dies, 2015, suono …e se il suono non si disperdesse mai? Se rimbalzasse continuamente, fluttuando nell’aria all’infinito? Cosa diventerebbe allora l’infinito?
