Dérive (drift): female name.
The moving away from the usual way, on an adventure. The letting go without reacting. The displacement not controlled of a floating object due to the effect of the wind or current.
Through the different definitions that we attach to this term it seems to describe the movement that accompanies a form in its evolution or its mutation as that of thought, of a body, of a sensation, of an element ...
The artist aims to analyze the meaning of the drift inspired by geological, geographical and geopolitical movements. Starting from the research done on cartographic documents and images of Earth Yuna Moret studies the evolution of our vision on the world through the centuries.
Therefore she raises questions about our will to conquest and appropriation of territories by examining the history of civilizations and the causes that lead to their extinction, from natural phenomena to economic, political and cultural drifts that push some civilization to destroy the others.
The key to this path will be the perception of our own drift, the one that characterizes us as
individuals; the one that allows us to venture, to project ourselves into the world to learn to understand it, to learn to understand ourselves.
"Dérive" through an initiatory path littered with pictorial installations, paintings, volumes, materials and different techniques aims to build a metaphorical universe offering a unique and symbolic representation of the world in which we live and arousing in the viewer that exaltation and euphoria typical of the explorer, discoverer of new continents. The exhibition is imagined as an incitement to the journey that invites each of us to let go, to discover a new world, to dive, to conquer, to contemplate.
Yuna Moret has completed "Dérive" during a residency at the Foundation Aurelio Petroni in April and May 2013.
